Decorative Covering Based on Two Special Antique Artworks

Story:

It was prepared as an adaptation using the main fabric and motifs of the bedspread that Seher AYRAL prepared for her own dowry using the Turkish Embroidery technique and decorated like a picture by filling it with diagonal pesent.

Product Details:

Multi-purpose decorative cover adapted from two special antique handicraft works to the present day, the main material of the art work is the mustard colored wool woven fabric purchased by Seher AYRAL's mother Müşerref SAMANLI in 1962. On this fabric, Seher AYRAL enlarged and centimetered a motif she liked in 1965 and worked a bedspread with colored orlon threads using the Turkish Work technique in a way that would decorate the entire main fabric. She used this work she prepared for her dowry with care. In 1988, a special different bedspread was worked from this antique bedspread. In 2024, the second bedspread was also used to use its motifs as the basis for new adaptation works. The motifs taken from the second bedspread and the main fabric of the first bedspread were transformed into a unique decorative cover by Seher AYRAL. All edges of the new work, which was worked to remain faithful to the original work, were decorated with a cord prepared with hand-made lace technique from the colors in it. The back of the work was also lined. On the front of the work, the motifs worked in the original work with the Turkish Embroidery technique and diagonal pesent were mounted on the new work with the applique technique. The edges of the motifs are bordered with hand crochet.
