The "Future in My Chest" project, initiated by Seher Ayral with her 65 years of experience and passion in the field of Traditional Handicrafts, has been shaped by the vision of a woman who has created more than 2500 original works as a collector, designer, producer, educator and entrepreneur, who protects her cultural values and aims to contribute to the economy, education and training, and social benefit.
The main objectives of the project are;
- To highlight the economic contribution of traditional handicrafts by taking into account their cultural and historical value,
- To ensure that unique works that are about to become obsolete in the chest are preserved by being used or exhibited, or that they are revived in their original forms and transformed into new works to be used,
- To move faster towards the same goal by gathering individual or corporate similar projects/initiatives under a common roof, through facilitating and developing methods.
- Approaching Traditional Handicrafts with the reality that they are an important part of art, culture, production and economy, rather than seeing them as a hobby or a production area of rural areas with limited resources,
- To create a system that will enable the sale of unique works of antique value and/or works produced today in a way that will provide compensation for the labor and will support sustainable production.
Project Phases:
- Pilot Study: It includes the study initiated by Seher Ayral in collaboration with the Sky Artistic Goodness Foundation. The outputs of this phase, which has been ongoing for approximately 5 years, will be presented in an exhibition organized in the Ethnography Museum together with the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism.
- Dissemination in National and International Arenas: Similar studies will be brought together under a single roof with the collaborative steps of Public Institutions, Private Sector, Non-Governmental Organizations and individual initiatives, and the project will be developed through workshops to identify problems and solution proposals in the field; reaching a wide audience and establishing a sustainable cultural value creation - production - marketing system will be ensured.
