ALIF LAM MIM (الم) – Maraş Work, a Composition Inspired by Calligraphic Aesthetics
Artwork Details
This artwork focuses on the composition of Alif Lam Mim (الم), letters known as Huruf al-Muqatta'at, which appear at the beginning of some surahs in the Qur'an. The true meaning of these letters is left to Allah, and in Islamic thought, they are regarded as signs of divine wisdom and layers of mystery.
The composition is designed in a stylized arrangement inspired by calligraphic aesthetics. The tall alif rising in the center evokes ideas of unity, uprightness, and beginning, while the accompanying lam letter reinforces the upward rhythm. The curved mim form in the lower section brings balance, depth, and a sense of completeness to the composition.
This artwork is an elegant interpretation that treats letters not merely as elements of writing, but as forms carrying meaning.
