Completely Handcrafted Antique Cushion Cover, My Angel
Story:
Seher Ayral established good communication with many Armenian neighbors living in the neighborhood they lived in during her time in Malatya and learned a lot about their own culture from them. One of these neighbors was her dear sister Meryem. Meryem Abla was a young girl who did not like to talk much, was introverted but constantly embroidered. She always expressed her intense feelings that she could not convey through words in the most beautiful way with threads, motifs and colors. Two works in Seher AYRAL's collection, which are preserved in the best way they were, also make us experience Meryem Abla's sad story. Meryem Abla loved a young man. The families accepted and their engagement was held. The young man went to the army. Meryem Abla could not hear from her fiancé for a long time. And unfortunately, Meryem Abla was devastated after a while with the news that her fiancé had died in a traffic accident. The woman, who had completely closed herself off from life, depicted the man she loved as an angel in embroidery in 1940. Living her pain for years, Meryem Abla got married at the age of 50, but unfortunately she could never be happy, her eyes and heart never smiled. While telling her story to Seher Ayral, she stated that she only found peace in creating these works. We remember her with love and respect. And we send our thanks for the works she left behind.
