YÂ HAFÎZ (يا حفيظ) – Maras Work, A Composition Inspired by Calligraphic Aesthetics
Artwork Details
This work features the phrase "Ya Hafiz," which expresses an appeal to the name "Al-Hafiz," meaning "the Protector of all things, the Preserver." The "Ya" at the beginning lends this phrase a dimension of prayer, supplication, and entreaty.
The composition is structured in a way that evokes a vertical stacking arrangement. The invocatory element at the top and the clustered letter forms at the bottom give the writing both unity and a sense of direction. The interwoven flow of the letters creates a balanced and elegant appearance reminiscent of classical Ottoman calligraphic stacking.
This piece conveys the idea of protection, security, and divine preservation within a powerful yet understated aesthetic.
